On March 3, 2026, Vinhomes Green Paradise in Can Gio, Vietnam, officially initiated its Smart City Certification Project in collaboration with the Korea Management Association Consulting (KMAC), the World Council on City Data (WCCD), and the Standardized Urban Metrics (SUM) initiative. This project aims to position Vinhomes Green Paradise as the first internationally certified smart city in Vietnam, setting new global benchmarks for sustainable urban development.
The collaboration seeks to facilitate the mega development's attainment of the WCCD/SUM Custom ISO 37122 Smart City Certification. This certification is founded on a tailored framework of indicators derived from the internationally recognized ISO 37122 standards, specifically adapted for greenfield projects and urban areas.
As part of this partnership, KMAC will offer strategic consulting and technical advisory services to ensure that the city's development aligns with the ISO 37122 indicators across essential areas such as mobility, energy, environment, safety, and digital infrastructure. The WCCD and SUM, based in Toronto, Canada, are developing a customized indicators framework that reflects the strategic smart city objectives of the Vinhomes Green Paradise project. Their teams will oversee the certification process, ensuring adherence to international standards and best practices.
The consortium has established a roadmap that aims to achieve an Interim Certification by 2026, with plans for full certification in subsequent phases. This initiative is viewed as a significant collaboration between Vietnam and Korea, aimed at enhancing global smart city standards.
Vinhomes Green Paradise is situated in a unique geographical location, bordered by the Can Gio Sea and the UNESCO-recognized Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve, which spans over 75,000 hectares. The development encompasses a total area of 2,870 hectares with a construction density of only 16%, and it introduces an upgraded ESG++ model focused on five pillars: Environment, Social, Governance, Regeneration, and Climate Adaptation.
Upon reaching full operational capacity, the urban management system is set to be entirely greened, with objectives including 100% clean electricity sourced from offshore wind farms and solar energy systems, as well as a net-zero emission transportation network featuring electric vehicles and a high-speed railway connecting to central Ho Chi Minh City. Furthermore, Vinhomes Green Paradise emphasizes biodiversity conservation and ecosystem regeneration, aligning with the long-term climate adaptation strategy of Ho Chi Minh City. A dedicated fund has been established to support research and restoration initiatives, particularly focusing on mangrove restoration to create a protective green belt for the development.
With its innovative ESG vision, Vinhomes Green Paradise has become the inaugural participant in the “7 Wonders of the Future Cities” campaign launched by New7Wonders, further solidifying its status as a global model for sustainable, AI-ready, and data-driven urban innovation.
