Therme Dubai: Oasis in the Sky – A New Level of Leisure in Dubai by 2028

In February 2025, plans were announced for the construction of Therme Dubai – "Islands in the Sky", an innovative wellness resort in Zabeel Park, Dubai. The $545 million project features a 100-meter tower with cascading botanical gardens and pools, creating a true "oasis in the sky."

Architectural Concept and Design

The project is designed by the renowned architectural firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro. According to Elizabeth Diller, the firm’s founding partner, Therme Dubai consists of a series of botanical islands stacked into a tower, rising above the lake in the newly redeveloped Zabeel Park. Each island will serve as a platform for thermal pools, terraces, and lush greenery, offering breathtaking views of Dubai’s skyline.

Functional Zones and Features

The resort will be divided into three main zones:

• Play: A family water park featuring pools, sunbathing areas, and 15 water slides.

• Relax: Thermal pools and dedicated spa areas.

• Restore: Saunas, steam rooms, and mineral baths inspired by Roman, Turkish, Nordic, and Japanese traditions.

One of the key highlights will be the world’s largest indoor botanical garden, featuring 18-meter waterfalls connecting different levels of the resort. Therme Dubai is expected to welcome approximately 1.7 million visitors annually.

Construction Timeline and Opening

Construction is set to begin in 2026, with completion expected by 2028. The project is part of Dubai’s 2040 Urban Master Plan, aimed at enhancing quality of life and creating new recreational spaces for both residents and visitors.
