Teacher Career Requirements and Application Process in Dubai

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority of Dubai (KHDA) has established criteria for applicants wishing to pursue a career as teachers in private schools.

Candidates aiming to become class teachers must hold a Bachelor's degree in Education (B.Ed). Additionally, candidates may present a certificate/diploma in postgraduate education or a Master's degree in Education (M.Ed). For those aspiring to be subject teachers, a Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline is required.

Foreign diplomas must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the embassy of the issuing country.

To apply to a Dubai school, candidates must:

1. Submit a resume to the school.
2. Attend an interview and commence a probationary period.
3. Register in the Educator Permit System.

When applying to the Educator Permit System, applicants must meet specific requirements:

- Have a minimum of four years of teaching experience.
- Hold a valid residency visa in the UAE and possess a school contract or employment agreement.
- Be in sufficient physical condition to teach.
- Provide a police clearance certificate from the UAE (or from the police of each country where the applicant has resided in the past five years) and a recommendation letter from their previous place of work.

Additionally, teachers must complete a series of professional courses at approved KHDA institutions:

- Child Protection and Safety.
- Communication with Children with Special Needs.
- Inclusivity.
- Spiritual Education.
- Sustainable Development.
- Well-being.
