Saudi Arabia and Russia Establish Visa-Free Travel Agreement

Saudi Arabia and Russia Establish Visa-Free Travel Agreement
Saudi Arabia and Russia have formalized a mutual visa exemption that permits citizens of both nations to visit each other for up to 90 days without the need for a visa. This agreement encompasses all passport types, including diplomatic, special, and regular passports, facilitating travel for tourism, business, and family visits. Under the terms of the agreement, travelers can stay for a total of 90 days, whether in consecutive or non-consecutive visits, within a one-year period. This initiative aims to streamline entry procedures for citizens of both countries, thereby promoting increased reciprocal visits and enhancing cooperation in tourism, economy, and culture. The signing of this agreement took place during the Saudi-Russian Investment and Business Forum, which was held in Riyadh on December 1, 2025. The forum was inaugurated by Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Energy, alongside Alexander Novak, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. The agreement was officially signed by Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, and Alexander Novak. This development marks a significant step in Saudi-Russian relations, as it is the first mutual visa exemption agreement that includes holders of regular passports. It is important to note that the exemption does not extend to individuals traveling for work, study, residency, or Hajj, as these categories will still require specific visas. The agreement is anticipated to bolster various sectors and foster deeper partnerships between Saudi Arabia and Russia.
