Expansion of Vehicle Services in Dubai

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has inaugurated a new vehicle testing and registration centre named Al Mutakamela in Al Qusais, which commenced operations on April 6. This facility aims to enhance access to licensing services for motorists in the eastern districts of the city, an area characterized by significant residential and commercial activity. The Al Qusais centre features seven testing lanes designated for light vehicles and one lane for motorcycles. It is equipped with modern inspection technology and staffed by trained inspectors and support personnel. The establishment of this centre is part of a broader initiative by the RTA to improve service delivery standards, reduce customer wait times, and ensure compliance with safety regulations in vehicle testing and registration. In addition to enhancing accessibility for the general public, the RTA has emphasized that the new facility aims to cater to a diverse range of users, including senior citizens and individuals with disabilities. This strategic location provides residents and businesses in a densely populated area with an alternative to older centres located in other parts of Dubai, where travel times can significantly impact the licensing process. The operational hours for the Al Qusais branch are set from Monday to Thursday and Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., while on Fridays, it operates from 7 a.m. to noon and then from 3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Reports indicate some discrepancies in the stated service hours, suggesting a potential variation in scheduling between the branch and service counters. The services offered at Al Mutakamela include vehicle testing, registration and renewal, ownership transfer, plate-related services, fleet management, and specialized inspection support. This opening aligns with the RTA's ongoing efforts to expand the emirate's vehicle testing and registration network through public-private partnerships. As of March 31, the RTA announced plans to establish new centres in Deira, Bur Dubai, and Mohammed Bin Rashid City, aiming to bring services closer to residents amid urban growth and increased commercial activity. With the addition of the Al Qusais centre, the total number of approved service-provider centres across Dubai has increased, reflecting the authority's commitment to adapting to the rising demand for vehicle services.
