Dubai has announced an extensive plan aimed at becoming the world’s most liveable and healthiest city by the year 2033, encompassing significant initiatives in urban greenery, education, aviation, healthcare, sports, and finance.
The plan was approved during a meeting of The Executive Council of Dubai, led by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who holds multiple prominent positions including Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE. This initiative is part of the broader Dubai Plan 2033, which aligns with the vision set forth by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE.
Central to the plan is the Public Parks and Greenery Strategy, which aims to implement over 800 projects, including the establishment of 310 new parks and enhancements to 322 existing ones. Additionally, the strategy includes the creation of 120 new open spaces and 14 technology-driven projects, as well as improvements to over 70 road rights-of-way to better connect communities. The goal is to increase annual park visits to 95 million by 2040, triple the number of trees, and expand green areas to 187 square kilometers, ensuring that 80% of residents live within a five-minute walk of a local park.
In the aviation sector, the Aviation Talent 33 initiative is set to bolster Dubai’s status as a global aviation hub, particularly with the expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport. This initiative aims to create 15,000 new job opportunities, provide 4,000 training programs, and establish 30 strategic partnerships with international aviation companies, while also promoting Emiratisation in leadership roles.
To enhance educational opportunities, a new policy has been approved to attract 60 affordable high-quality schools by 2033, which will add 120,000 student seats. This initiative is designed to incentivize investors through reduced land leasing costs and lower government fees, aligning with the Dubai Education Strategy 2033, which aspires to position Dubai among the top ten global cities for educational quality.
Furthermore, the Early Detection Healthcare Services Project aims to improve preventive healthcare measures, targeting a 40% increase in early colon cancer detection and a 50% increase in vaccination services. The initiative seeks to enhance patient satisfaction and reduce appointment waiting times, contributing to Dubai’s goal of becoming a leader in health and wellbeing.
Lastly, the Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033, developed by the Dubai Sports Council, aims to transform Dubai into a premier sports hub, promoting participation across various demographics and attracting global sporting events. Additionally, the establishment of a Financial Restructuring and Insolvency Court will provide a specialized framework for financial reorganization, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a leading global financial center.
These comprehensive strategies reflect a concerted effort to create a balanced and sustainable urban environment, fostering innovation, health, and quality of life for future generations.
