APAS Debuts at The Battery Show Asia Showcasing Eight Innovative Battery Technology Solutions

The Centre of Advanced Power and Autonomous Systems (APAS), part of the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), made its inaugural appearance at The Battery Show Asia, which took place from March 10 to 12, 2026. The event featured a dedicated area where APAS presented eight innovative battery technology solutions characterized by high safety standards and intelligent functionalities. During the exhibition, APAS also organized the second edition of the New Energy Summit, which convened five experts and scholars from Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, India, and Switzerland. The summit provided a platform for discussions on various topics related to new energy and energy storage, facilitating the exchange of the latest industry developments and application trends among participants. The Chief Innovation Officer of HKPC and General Manager of APAS emphasized the alignment of their initiatives with the strategic priorities outlined in the 15th Five-Year Plan, particularly in emerging sectors such as new energy and advanced energy storage. He noted the importance of smart and integrated industrial development, which is expected to drive long-term momentum in the new energy sector. APAS aims to translate research outcomes into market-ready solutions, thereby enhancing technological capabilities and industrial value. The Battery Show Asia attracted over 20,000 representatives from various regions, including the Chinese Mainland, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, India, Europe, and the United States. The exhibition served as an international platform for technology showcases, industry exchanges, and business collaborations, covering sectors such as battery manufacturing, energy storage solutions, and new energy transportation. In its first participation, APAS highlighted its research strengths by presenting several innovative battery technology solutions developed in collaboration with industry partners. Among these were a high-performance sodium-ion battery designed for applications in low-speed electric vehicles and energy storage, and explosion-proof high-energy battery systems engineered for demanding environments. Additionally, a yacht battery system utilizing advanced solid-state technology was showcased, aimed at addressing the unique challenges of marine operations. The New Energy Summit featured discussions on key themes such as new energy and advanced materials. Experts shared insights on hydrogen energy technologies and their potential for promoting clean energy in Hong Kong, as well as trends in energy storage and the integration of renewable energy with smart infrastructure. A representative from the National University of Singapore highlighted the role of nanotechnology in sustainable energy development, providing a glimpse into future advancements in the sector. Through this cross-regional and cross-industry initiative, APAS seeks to foster international collaboration and accelerate the application of new energy technologies, contributing to a more resilient and sustainable energy ecosystem.
